The Environment and Product Stewardship Council in Europe, was established in 1991 and brings together Environment Leaders from multi-national companies to learn best practices, strategies and new solutions to environmental issues.
The vouncil focuses on strategic, management, regulatory, and compliance issues related to the environment and product stewardship, and the Council takes an impartial look at the key policy and scientific issues that underlie existing or proposed regulatory policies.
Members explore challenges that arise from plant- and product-oriented environmental legislation and social pressure, and discusses best practices for efficient and innovative management. In an effort to anticipate future legal requirements, it also keeps members informed about current issues in European environmental policy. To stay abreast of the latest thinking, the Council focuses on cutting edge thinking on the latest issues.
Environmental Management and Product Stewardship are changing and the expectations of top management and stakeholders are high. It starts with good regulatory oversight and compliance with environmental regulations.
A sound understanding of current and future environmental law and practices provides the foundation for proactive and cutting-edge environmental management. But in modern times there is more to it than compliance and anticipating new regulations.
Climate change, eco-design, resource efficiency, and the ‘closed loop’ economy continue to pose new challenges. Environmental management involves relations with governmental agencies as well as a range of stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers, and investors.
