11th Annual Organization Design and Diagnostics Conference

Organization Effectiveness by Design
DECEMBER 10 - 11, 2015 | WESTIN NEW YORK AT TIMES SQUARE | NEW YORK, NY

December 10 - 11, 2015

Organization Design is more than structure: it is architecting and aligning all facets of the organization to enable strategy. When processes, structures, measures, technology, people systems and culture work in concert then an enterprise is best positioned to deliver dynamic results in the marketplace. But in a world of constant change, how can you, as a leader, keep the pieces in sync? How can you ensure that your organization continually works towards optimizing such organization effectiveness?

This conference, designed for business leaders, HR professionals and OE/OD professionals alike, will highlight tools and methods, and examine real-life case studies that show how organizations from all sectors are diagnosing organizational issues, aligning their organizations to deliver market place success and building business and leadership capabilities to sustain performance over time.

The Conference Board is pleased to offer four sessions of this thought provoking conference via livestream. Register now.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm Transforming an Organization’s Culture – The Power of Driving Behavior
This session will explore how Novartis Consumer Health initiated a culture transformation to support its business strategy, improve results and drive employee engagement. In 2012, Novartis Consumer Health (NCH) had just hired its fifth CEO in four years and voluntarily shut down its manufacturing plant due to quality problems, taking some of its most lucrative products off the shelf. With the appointment of a new CEO and new Head of Human Resources, NCH relaunched its “Purpose and Strategy” and began to transform its culture. Learn how various human capital levers, from compensation to talent acquisition to performance management to a renewed focus on leaders as role models, aided in bringing NCH to double digit growth by 2015. The session will be led by the former Global Head of Organization Development at
Novartis Consumer Health.

Brian Nemiroff, Vice President Organization Development and Learning, NYU Langone Medical Center

1:00 – 2:00 pm Growth on a Global Scale: The Story of Precima
Precima, created in 2008 through expertise developed by working with AIR MILES loyalty program partners’ data, has quickly grown into a thriving organization with offices that span the globe. Today Precima uses world-class analytics to deliver highly customized merchandising and marketing services tailored to retailer and manufacturer needs. The company’s growth approach, organizational design philosophy, and experimentation with different structures encourage ongoing innovation, drive productivity, and improve collaboration.

In this session, you will learn:
• How Precima grows its business with best-in-class talent
• How Precima scales for North American and global growth

Manny Campione, AVP Human Resources, LoyaltyOne (part of the Alliance Data family)

Sofia Theodorou, SVP Talent and Workplace, LoyaltyOne (part of the Alliance Data family)

2:00 – 3:00 pm Designing for New Enterprise Capability
Often companies must aggressively drive adoption of new capabilities to meet market and internal demands. Introducing a structural change, such as a Center of Excellence (COE), can help to achieve this goal. This session covers IBM’s introduction of organizational constructs to help drive adoption of new capabilities across the enterprise. Presenters will review the key drivers for these changes, the steps that IBM took to introduce and support the new organizational models, and lessons learned.

William E. (Bill) McClane Ph.D., Global Lead, Organization Design Community of Practice, Talent and Change Center of Competence, IBM

Gregory Meyding, Partner, Talent and Change Center of Competence, IBM

Meredith B. Singer, Associate Partner, Talent and Change Center of Competence, IBM

3:15 – 4:15 pm The Best of the European Organization Design Forum
The European Organization Design Forum conference will be held in October in Milan. Participants at that event will vote for the best conference presentation. We will then bring that presentation to you in New York City. Hear an audience-proven session relevant to all organization design practitioners.
