Seema Mody is a technology and global markets correspondent for CNBC, focusing on the intersection of foreign policy, Silicon Valley and Wall Street. Given Mody’s experience reporting overseas, she helps synthesize complex international stories for CNBC’s investor audience. Within technology, Mody covers the software and cloud services companies at the leading edge of artificial intelligence adoption. She also reports on the globally diversified industrials sector.

Mody has broken several stories in her coverage of the travel industry and reported from the frontlines on the catastrophic effect of the pandemic that nearly forced some of the most iconic hospitality names into financial distress. She joined CNBC in July 2011 as a reporter covering the tech and IPO market from the NASDAQ. Her career then moved to London where she was co-anchor of “Worldwide Exchange” and covered major international stories including Brexit and China’s historic currency devaluation that roiled global markets.

Mody began her career in broadcasting as a reporter and anchor at CNBC-TV18 in Mumbai, India where she reported extensively on the country’s economic boom. During her time at the network, she co-anchored “Power Breakfast” and “After the Bell” as well as co-produced and anchored special features. Mody broke stories on private equity deals and M&A activity across the emerging market, exclusively interviewing global private equity heads including Warburg Pincus CEO Chip Kaye, and provided daily market updates for CNBC World’s “Capital Connection” and “Cash Flow.”

Mody graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She was recently appointed to Pratham’s tristate board.
