Ron Steijn is the Head of Compensation & Benefits at Hitachi Energy, based in Zurich, Switzerland. He leads the global Compensation & Benefits function for a workforce of 55,000 employees across 60 countries, overseeing four Centers of Expertise and ten geographic hubs. His work spans the full reward spectrum—from global incentive plan design to mobility strategy, policy modernization, and transparent reward architecture across all countries.

A seasoned Human Resources and Finance executive, Ron brings more than 30 years of experience across major multinationals. Before joining Hitachi Energy, he held multiple senior leadership roles in both HR and Finance at ABB and Dow.

Ron also has a strong governance and fiduciary background. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of two major Swiss pension institutions, providing strategic oversight, investment governance, and risk management. Previously, he served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Zurich International School, overseeing a multi-campus institution with more than 1,300 students.

He holds advanced qualifications including the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, complemented by executive education at IMD. His international academic background includes an MBA from Tilburg University with an exchange program at Indiana University Bloomington.

Ron is known for combining strategic clarity with pragmatic execution—bringing together HR, Finance, governance and operational expertise to drive people-centric transformation in large, complex global organizations.
