Nickle LaMoreaux is a transformative HR leader shaping the future of work at IBM, a Fortune 100 company at the forefront of AI and hybrid cloud innovation. As Chief Human Resources Officer since August 2020, she leads IBM’s global people strategy and oversees a worldwide HR team supporting more than 300,000 IBMers across 175 countries. Nickle is driving a bold talent agenda powered by AI, focused on reskilling, upskilling, and preparing the workforce for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Under her leadership, IBM is redesigning the employee experience with AI-infused solutions that enhance productivity, foster collaboration, and accelerate innovation. She is championing a culture of continuous learning and reinvention, ensuring IBMers are equipped to thrive in the future of work.

Nickle’s career at IBM spans more than 25 years, beginning as an intern and evolving through leadership roles across services, software, and emerging markets, including assignments in the United States and China. She has played a pivotal role in shaping IBM’s workforce strategy through major transformations, including leading the separation of IBM’s managed infrastructure services business to launch Kyndryl, a 100,000-person company. She also oversaw IBM’s largest strategic transactions, including the $34 billion acquisition of Red Hat, and drove AI adoption across HR workflows, resulting in thousands of hours saved and improved employee engagement.

Before becoming CHRO, Nickle served as Vice President of HR for IBM’s Cloud and Cognitive Software business, where she developed a forward-looking talent strategy centered on skills growth and AI integration. She also held the role of Vice President of Total Rewards, overseeing global compensation, benefits, M&A, and HR programs.

Beyond IBM, Nickle is a recognized thought leader in the HR industry. She chairs the Center for Workplace AI and the Center on Executive Compensation at the CHRO Association, helping HR leaders globally navigate the responsible integration of AI in the workplace. She also serves as Chair of the Board for CAHRS (Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies).

Nickle holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and an MBA from Duke University. In 2024, she was named HR Executive of the Year by HR Executive magazine.
