Nick Avery is Chief People Officer of Carta where he is responsible for the recruitment and development of people and careers. He joined in June from Blackrock where he was Global Head of Talent Management and lead teams in the US, APAC and EMEA to design and deliver manager and leadership development, learning, professional development and early careers programs; as well as BlackRock's core talent practices which included succession planning, performance management and promotion processes.

Prior to the Global Head of Talent Management role at Blackrock, Nick was Head of Human Resources for Asia Pacific. He originally joined BlackRock as APAC Head of Talent and HR Business Partner for Client Businesses in Hong Kong.

Previously Nick held senior Human Resources positions in Asia and Australia with HSBC Bank, Foster’s Group Limited and the Air New Zealand / Ansett Group. He was also a Senior Client Partner and Head of Leadership Development for Korn Ferry in Australia. He has advised Boards, CEOs and senior executives across a range of industries on leadership and succession.

Nick holds a MAppSc (Organisation Dynamics) from RMIT University, a BBus (Human Resources) from Queensland University of Technology and a BA (Economics) from The University of Queensland.
