Michael Carter is Executive Vice President and Chief Partner Officer of Truist Financial Corporation and a member of the firm’s Technology, Data & Operations (TD&O) Executive Leadership Team. He also serves on the firm’s AI Executive Advisory Working Group and the TD&O Risk Committee. Previously, Michael served for four years as Head of Corporate & Investment Banking for Truist Securities, where he was a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Truist Securities Board of Directors, the Corporate & Investment Banking Risk Committee, and the Debt and Equity Capital Markets Commitment Committees.

Previously, Michael served as Global Head of Technology Investment Banking at RBC Capital Markets. During his tenure, he led the creation and management of the West Coast Innovation Lab, served on the Equity Capital Markets Commitment Committee and the Global Innovation Council. Earlier in his career, Michael was a Senior Managing Director at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers, where he led global Technology-Enabled & Information Services and Enterprise Technology practices and drove emerging-market expansion initiatives for the Global Technology Group.

Michael brings 35 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance, with deep expertise in complex mergers and acquisitions, including cross-border transactions and corporate reorganizations; large-scale strategic finance; public and private equity; equity-linked products; leveraged buyouts; and structured finance. His industry recognition includes Institutional Investor Magazine’s “Rainmaker of the Year,” two “Deal of the Year” awards from Investor Magazine (Software and IT Services), and the M&A Atlas Award for “Technology Services Deal of the Year.” He has also been named among Savoy Magazine’s “Most Influential Executives in Corporate America” and recognized as a Blueprint Capital Advisors 2025 Power100 Honoree.

Michael is a Coro Fellows Scholar and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis. He serves as a corporate board director of Wesco International and on several nonprofit boards, including the Shepherd Center Foundation Board of Trustees, the Wake Forest University School of Business Board of Advisors, and as Honorary Board Director at Spelman College. He previously served as a corporate board director of CSI, Inc. and is a longstanding member of The Executive Leadership Council.
