Melissa Kaplan is a senior Total Rewards executive with broad expertise across compensation and benefits, risk management, finance, and regulatory governance. She spent nearly nine years at Discover Financial Services in risk, finance, and HR roles, ultimately overseeing global compensation. She later assumed a leadership role in Total Rewards at MUFG, then the 6th largest banking organization in the world, before heading the Total Rewards function at Kemper Insurance, where her remit expanded to include HR business partnership, HRIS, and people analytics. Melissa joined The Hartford Insurance Group in February 2026 to oversee its Total Rewards team. Outside of work, she serves as Vice President of the Northbrook Girls Softball Association and enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and playing pickleball.
