Dr. Mark A. Schwartz is a Managing Director in the analytics practice at S&P Global Platts. He has led the development of the Long-Term Energy Outlook working closely with the Global Oil, Natural Gas, Coal and other practices to evaluate the key assumptions underlying their outlooks, ensure internal consistency and to develop plausible alternative assumptions and outcomes.

Prior to the S&P Global Platts acquisition of PIRA, Mark was the President of PIRA. Before joining PIRA in 2002, he was the Chief Economist of ExxonMobil, where he was responsible for developing the company’s long-range economic and energy outlook. Prior to this position, Mark spent 25 years at Exxon in various assignments in the Upstream Planning, International Natural Gas, Treasurers, and Corporate Planning functions.

Mark holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.
