In her role as the Executive Director of Self-Funded Health Plans for the University of California Office of the President, Laura is responsible for the setting the strategic direction and accountable for the financial performance of six self-funded PPO plans and a flex-funded HMO, serving about 215,000 active employees and retirees. Laura’s leadership enables her high-performing team to achieve increasingly difficult financial goals, while improving the member experience. Her team also created a competitive benefits package (including a self-funded PPO, flex-funded HMO, vision, dental, life and disability) for the next generation in medicine—the over 5,000 UC Medical Center residents and fellows. Prior to joining UC, Laura was the Regional Director of Network Management, Northern California, for Scan Health Plan, in which she was the key point of contact for Northern California operations of a Medicare-only health plan. Her career also includes business development roles at Kaiser Permanente and strategic planning at Blue Shield of California.  She has also been a health care strategy consultant at Accenture.
