Relevant Experience/Specialization

Katie Asch is the US Consulting Pharmacy Practice Leader, overseeing the strategic direction of the practice and ensuring our clients benefit from the excellent service and innovation brought to all engagements with our pharmacy colleagues. Katie is based out of the Chicago office supporting employers across the country. As a pharmacist and senior director with more than twenty years of experience in pharmacy benefit management, she lends her expertise for clients pursuing pharmacy-focused initiatives including:

• Trend management strategy
• Utilization and clinical program management solutions
• Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) selection, implementation, contract negotiation and audit evaluation
• Specialty strategy
• Integrated health management and wellbeing strategy

She supports clients in the manufacturing, financial services, food services, pharmaceutical, healthcare and professional services industries; many of which have collective bargaining groups. Her client portfolio is diverse in size, industry and complexity. Katie often serves as an extension of the benefits team as the dedicated pharmacy expert. She has significant experience in designing and implementing strategies to accomplish optimal pharmacy management in alignment with benefit goals.

Katie is also the executive sponsor of the Willis Towers Watson Audit Pharmacy team. Having conducted hundreds of pharmacy audits, Katie is able to provide deep insight into the financial and operational functions of PBMs.

Before joining Willis Towers Watson, Katie worked for a large national Pharmacy Benefit Management company and in retail pharmacy. In these roles, she focused on patient care and the development of pharmaceutical clinical services.

Education and Credentials

She holds a Pharm.D. degree from Midwestern University in Illinois and is a member of the Rho Chi Academic Honors Society in Pharmacy.
