John is the Chief Legal Officer at Harvey, a platform that makes generative AI useful and accessible to lawyers and other professionals.

Before joining Harvey, John served as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at Snowflake Inc., where he oversaw the legal teams responsible for commercial transactions, product counseling, intellectual property, privacy, security, and litigation. Prior to Snowflake, he was Senior Director of IP Strategy and Commercial Litigation at Zymergen, a synthetic biology startup.

Earlier in his career, John spent a decade at Google. He joined in 2009 as a member of the patent litigation team, where, for over five and a half years, he defended the company in numerous patent cases, including several that he successfully took to trial. He then led the consumer hardware patents team, managing patent-related issues for products such as Pixel phones, Chromebooks, Home devices, and Nest products. John also led Google's Patent Transactions team, handling inbound, outbound, and cross-licensing deals, as well as strategic acquisitions and divestitures.

Before Google, John was a patent litigator at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in New York.
