Jane Lau is a Program Director at The Conference Board. Previously, she was appointed Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF in 2015. During her tenure, she has successfully led the organization in achieving record fundraising results and being a leading voice in child rights in Hong Kong.
Before that, Jane had led a successful career in public and government affairs, corporate communications, advertising and marketing, CSR and sustainability and politics and served a number of leading firms in senior regional management roles in Hong Kong and the USA, including almost 20 years in the energy and power sector. The firms she served included The Wharf Group, Mobil Oil, AIG, and the CLP Group. In the midst of her career, she also spent two years with the Hong Kong Liberal Party as their Executive Director after being the Managing Director of her own consultancy for three years.
Jane retired from her corporate career in 2013 after thirty-three years of service. Her last position was Director of Group Public Affairs for the CLP Group, a leading power company in Asia Pacific. Jane has been active in public and social services. Before she joined UNICEF Hong Kong, she had also served a number of non-profit organisations as committee member, including Hong Kong Red Cross and Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and was Programme Director for The Conference Board in charge of the Asia Pacific Council on Communication and Marketing and China Council on Communication and Marketing from 2013 to early 2015. She has strong interest in sustainability and CSR, having played an active role in this space for decades. She is currently a member of the Expert Review Panel of MTR’s Sustainability Report and an Honorary External Advisor to the Sustainability Development Committee of the Octopus Group. She has been a founding member of the Caring Company Scheme Steering Committee and once served as the Vice Chair of Sustainable Business Hong Kong.
Jane holds an EMBA degree from Tsinghua University; MA in Communications and Diploma in Sociology from Hong Kong Baptist University; and Final Diploma in Linguistics from the London Institute of Linguists. She also studied part-time Master of International Management in University of Maryland when she worked in the Head Office of Mobil Oil in the USA (before ExxonMobil merger).
