Jamala Arland has been President and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Life Insurance at Genworth since 2024. In this role, she leads the strategic transformation and stewardship of Genworth’s inforce life, annuities and long-term care insurance businesses, which include the largest private long-term care insurance block in the United States, serving more than one million policyholders. She is responsible for ensuring the long-term sustainability of the business while advancing innovation in care solutions through collaboration between the public and private sectors.

From 2021-2023, Jamala served on a California LTC Task Force, as a representative from the LTC insurance industry appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules to explore the feasibility of establishing a statewide LTC Insurance Program.

With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, Jamala has held multiple leadership roles at Genworth across long-term care, life insurance, and annuities. As Senior Vice President of Long-Term Care Inforce, she led with a customer-first mindset, strengthening engagement with regulators, rating agencies, and investors, while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture. Prior to joining Genworth, she worked at Ernst & Young in New York, specializing in actuarial and financial reporting for life insurers.

Jamala is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Chartered Financial Analyst. She is also a CED Fellow, Class of 2020-2021. She serves on the American Council of Life Insurers’ CEO Steering Committee on Consumer Issues and the Society of Actuaries’ North American Employers Council. She also sits on the Boards of Trustees for FRIENDS Association for Children and the Science Museum of Virginia.

A graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science and Statistics, Jamala has been recognized for her leadership in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the actuarial profession.
