Carolyn Cartwright

Carolyn Cartwright is currently the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for SunTrust Banks, Inc. headquartered in Atlanta, GA.

Carolyn began her career with Trust Company Bank in Retail Banking. She has worked in a number of positions within SunTrust including Manager of Operations, Training Director, Group Manager of Human Resources, and Director of Human Resources, Georgia.

Carolyn holds a History degree from Spelman College and earned her Masters of Education degree (focus on Career and Organizational Development) from Georgia State University. She is also a graduate of the Penn State Executive Human Resources Management Program. SunTrust has been the recipient of a number of awards recognizing the company’s efforts for diversity under Carolyn’s leadership. The Company has been recognized by the Department of Labor and presented the Freedom Initiative Award for their efforts on behalf of People with Disabilities, listed in the Top 50 Companies for minorities by DiversityInc Magazine for two consecutive years, Top 100 by Fortune Magazine, the Tommy Nobis Award (for people with disabilities), Black MBA Magazine as one of the 10 best companies for MBAs, Rainbow PUSH as a company of excellence for diversity and ranked first place among financial institutions for diversity by the NAACP.

Carolyn is active in the local community. She is a former member of the Board of Trustees and Chaired the Human Resources Committee of Inner Harbour (a treatment facility for young people). Previously she served as a Board Member for the Georgia Center for Children. She has served as Chairperson for numerous United Way of Metro Atlanta Committees, and was a Board Member for the United Way for six years. She was a Board Development Instructor for United Way, served as a Co-Chair of Young Audiences, and has worked with the Atlanta Public Schools
