Morgan Stanley Foundation
After nine years in the nonprofit sector, Joan joined Morgan Stanley in 1997 and currently oversees global philanthropic programs, including employee volunteering and giving, corporate and Foundation grantmaking, and strategic planning and execution. Since her inception, Joan has more than quadrupled the company’s giving; created programs for more than 40,000 employees; and expanded the Firm’s geographic outreach so that more communities could be served.
She earned her undergraduate degree in English and Communications and her masters degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. Joan has also earned certificates in corporate citizenship from Harvard Business School and Boston College.
In addition to her position at the Firm, Joan is active in her community, serving currently as an Executive Committee member of the Children’s Advisory Council of New York Presbyterian Hospital and the Corporate Advisory Council of the American Red Cross and previously as the Program Officer and President of the Contributions Advisory Group. In 2001, she was inducted into the Academy of Women Achievers by the YWCA of New York City and her children’s health programs were recognized in 2006 with the US Chamber of Commerce US Community Service Award.
