Since May 2008, Lena Hagman has worked as Chief economist for Almega, the largest employer’s organization for service companies in Sweden. Almega has about 11 000 member companies, coming from about 60 different service industries.
As Chief economist for Almega, Lena has the responsibility for making Almega’s forecasts for Sweden’s economy, as well as for making the analysis and writing quarterly reports based on leading indicators and other data about the private service sector. Lena has also taken several initiatives to write reports about structural changes within Sweden’s business sector, also with international comparisons and new measurements of competitiveness.
Before working for Almega, Lena worked as Chief economist at TCO, (trade union organization for white collar workers), Chief economist at Statistics Sweden, and before that she was responsible for forecasting at the Confederation of Swedish Industries. Her first experience of forecasting started at the Ministry of Finance in the early 90’s.
Lena has also worked for a government review of Sweden’s economic statistics (2000–2003), including “benchmarking” with other producers of economic statistics in 11 different countries.
