Chairman, Governance Center Advisory Board
William “Bill” Ide is chairman of The Conference Board Governance Center® Advisory Board and program director of the Council of Chief Legal Officers.
Ide is also a partner in the Atlanta office of McKenna Long & Aldridge, an international law firm. His practice focuses on representing public companies, their boards, and board committees concerning ethics, corporate governance, special investigations, strategic interfacing with publics, and crisis management. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., where he serves on the executive, audit, and corporate governance committees. Ide is a former director of Albermarle Corporation.
Ide also chairs the Boards of MetaJure and Rimidi Diabetes. He serves on the audit and governance committees of the Clark Atlanta University Board of Trustees and also serves on the audit and governance committees and chairs the executive committee of the EastWest Institute.
Ide earned his B.A. from Washington & Lee University, J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School (Order of the Coif, Law Review), and M.B.A. from Georgia State University. Additionally, he is former general counsel of Monsanto Corporation, former counsel to the United States Olympic Committee, and a past president of the American Bar Association.
