Director, Raytheon Six Sigma Engineering, Technology & Mission Assurance
John Bergeron is director of Raytheon Six Sigma™, Corporate Mission Assurance for Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN). He assumed the leadership role within Engineering, Technology and Mission Assurance in September 2010. Raytheon Company, with 2014 sales of $23 billion and 61,000 employees worldwide, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civil markets throughout the world. Raytheon is headquartered in Waltham, Mass.
Bergeron guides Raytheon’s Six Sigma vision and strategy across all businesses. He is focused on driving continuous improvement in all enterprise processes and systems that support efforts to deliver world-class performance for our warfighters. Bergeron is responsible for developing partnerships with customers and senior leaders alike to define strategies that will ensure agility and responsiveness to a broad, global customer base. He oversees continuous review of systems, practices and procedures, reinforcing the highest standards of effectiveness and efficiency.
As director of Raytheon Six Sigma, Bergeron also chairs Raytheon’s enterprise Six Sigma council and all associated teams.
Prior to leading Raytheon Six Sigma, Bergeron was director of the Whole Life Engineering Directorate for the Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems business from 2006 to 2010. He led a multi-disciplined customer focused team with a mission to provide best value life-cycle management, system support and innovative market solutions. In this role, Bergeron was responsible for securing commitment and alignment for life-cycle applications for all product lines across the enterprise.
Previously, Bergeron held leadership positions in field service, quality and operations at General Electric from 1991 to 2006. As a GE Six Sigma quality leader, he led the operations integration and establishment of common processes and business metrics for several acquisitions. Using quality methodology, he managed the analysis and process control activities to resolve product issues, improving relationships with customers and partners and prompting the development of new business initiatives. Bergeron also had P&L responsibility for bringing global gas, steam and nuclear power plants on line. In addition, he managed the installation of a state-of-the-art steam cooled gas turbine system to achieve higher thermal efficiencies while meeting reliability and availability customer commitments.
Bergeron is a member of IEEE and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
Bergeron earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont. He is a certified Raytheon Six Sigma Expert, a licensed Chief Engineer for the city of New Haven, Conn., and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
