A professor of strategy for many years, Dr. Yvan Allaire co-founded the strategy consulting group SÉCOR INC., and was executive vice-president at Bombardier Inc (1996-2001) and Chairman of Bombardier Capital (1999-2001).
Allaire is the current Chair of the Global Council on the Role of Business of the World Economic Forum and the Executive Chair of the Institute for governance of public and private organizations.
Prolific author, Allaire has published many award-winning articles on strategy and is the co-author of several books on strategy and governance. The book Black Markets and Business Blues (FI Press 2009) with Professor Mihaela Firsirotu won the Silver Award from the American Independent Publishers Association. Dr. Allaire has recently published “A Capitalism of Owners” (2012) and “La vertu du juste milieu” (IGOPP, 2013) also co-authored with Professor Firsirotu.
Allaire is also the author of several IGOPP policy papers, which offer new perspectives on a range of controversial issues including: Dual-class voting shares, Corporate Citizenship, The place of women on boards of directors, Say-on-Pay by shareholders, The Gordian knot of executive compensation, The Troubling Case of Proxy Advisors, among others.
Allaire holds a B.Sc. Com (Summa cum laude) and MBA from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Ph.D. from MIT. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
