Dr Delphine Bard is a physical chemist in the Analytical Science Unit at HSL and has over 15 years’ experience in the measurement and characterisation of airborne particles and fibres. During this time, she has gained extensive knowledge in physicochemical
characterisation (e.g. optical and electron microscopy, infrared / Raman spectroscopy), workplace measurement strategies and aerosol monitoring. She also has an interest in risk assessment and control banding. In addition, she has been involved in the development of national and international guidance on asbestos and nanomaterials. Delphine is currently the technical leader for Nanotechnology within the Analytical Sciences Unit. She undertakes and leads research and development work related to nanoparticles and fibres. Delphine actively participates in national and international
initiatives led by the UK Nanosafety Partnership, the Word Health
Organisation (WHO), the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) and the Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health (PEROSH). She is a member of standard committees (Nanotechnology: CEN TC352, ISO TC229 and Assessment of Workplace Exposure to Aerosol: TC 137/WG3).
