Sophie L’Helias is a corporate governance and shareholder activism expert, drawing upon her extensive experience in these areas. She was formerly Managing Director of an activist hedge fund on Wall Street, an M&A attorney in New York and Paris, a strategic governance advisor to global activist investors and issuers and a procurement agent for leading proxy voting advisory firms.
Sophie is a co-founder of the International Corporate Governance Network (www.ICGN.org) today’s leading global investor-led organization that promotes standards of corporate governance to advance markets and economies around the world. The ICGN’s investment members manage assets exceeding $30 trillion.
She is also the founder and President of LeaderXXchange™ which collaborates with institutions, issuers and individuals worldwide to identify and increase the visibility of diverse leaders in all fields, with a particular focus on women and board diversity.
Sophie is Senior Fellow at the Samuel and Roonie Heyman Center on Corporate Governance, at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York and a member of the Editorial Board of Hawkamah Journal published by Hawkamah - The Institute for Corporate Governanc in Dubai. She has frequently published on local and global governance developments for European and North American publications.
Sophie holds an MBA from INSEAD and graduated from the law schools of the University of Pantheon-Sorbonne, the University of Saarbrücken, Germany and the University of Pennsylvania.
