Eric D. Elder, Ph.D.

Dr. Eric D. Elder joined Corning in May 2008, as director of Talent Management. In this role, he is responsible for Corning’s global talent management processes focused on talent acquisition, talent planning, and talent development.

Elder joined Corning from Bank of America in Charlotte, N.C., where he served in several different roles. He was senior vice president of executive development programs, learning and leadership development, and executive recruiting. Elder also worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as director, executive staffing & development, and as director within the Center for Leadership Development.

Earlier in his career, Elder worked as an external consultant to a variety of organizations within the U.S. and abroad. He was a consultant with RHR International, where he provided executive assessment and coaching services. He was a human resources consultant with Towers Perrin, and he worked as a senior consultant and manager with Development Dimensions International (DDI), aninternational consulting firm.

Elder received his B.A. in psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Texas in Austin. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology (SIOP). He currently serves on the board of directors of Watson Homestead and 171 Cedar Arts Center.
