President and CEO
Alan M. Dachs is president and chief executive officer of Fremont Group, a San Francisco-based equity investment firm specializing in direct investments, real estate, venture capital, and publicly traded securities. Dachs is a member of the board of directors of Bechtel Group, Inc. and the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation. He is also a trustee of The Brookings Institution; serves as a member of its executive, investment, and budget and finance committees; and is chair of its foreign policy studies program leadership committee. From 2011 to 2015, Dachs served as chairman of the board of trustees of The Conference Board, and was elected chair emeritus in December 2015.
At the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, where he is a fellow, Dachs chairs the development and public relations committee. He is also a member of the corporation visiting committee for the engineering systems division of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the advisory board of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. Dachs serves as chair emeritus of the board of trustees of Wesleyan University, where he received an honorary doctor of humane letters in 2007.
