George S. Barrett

George S. Barrett is chairman and chief executive officer of Cardinal Health, Inc., a Fortune 17 health care services company dedicated to improving the cost-effectiveness of health care. Barrett joined Cardinal Health in 2008 as vice chairman and CEO of the company’s healthcare supply chain services segment. Previously, Barrett served as CEO of Teva North America and corporate executive vice president of Teva’s global pharmaceutical markets. Before becoming president and CEO of Teva Pharmaceuticals USA in 1999, Barrett was president of U.S. pharmaceuticals at Alpharma Inc. and president of NMC Laboratories prior to its acquisition by Alpharma.
Barrett serves on the board of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, the Owen School of Business at Vanderbilt University, Project Restore at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and the Healthcare Leadership Council. He is also a member of the board of trustees of The Conference Board, The Business Council, and past chairman of the board of directors of the Generic Pharmaceutical Industry Association (GPhA).
Barrett was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award of Excellence in Global Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and an MBA from New York University.
