Dr. Stanley serves as Chief Medical Officer for Express Scripts PBM by Evernorth, the health services business for Cigna Corporation. In this role, Gerry oversees all aspects of Health and Care transformation, representing the voice of Express Scripts clients as we develop overall corporate strategies. His responsibilities include providing executive level attention to the enterprise, supporting the organization holistically, and offering a clinical voice, internally and externally, to serve as a conduit to the Evernorth enterprise of solutions.

Gerry is an award-winning, third-generation family doctor, speaker, author, and catalyst for healthcare transformation. With more than 20 years of practice and executive leadership experience, he has spoken and presented extensively on the topics of healthcare disruption/transformation, population health management, self-insured health plan management, medical consumerism, and direct-to-employer network enablement.

He joins the Evernorth team after serving as the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the digital therapeutic company Harvard MedTech. Before that role, he served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Employer and Consumer division of the Cerner Corporation. In that capacity, he led a national system of on-site/near-site health centers/pharmacies/occupational health centers, a national group of care coordinators, a corporate wellness strategy business, an analytics team, and a third-party administrator (TPA). He has deep knowledge and experience serving and supporting self-insured entities, health plans, and private/public health systems.

An accomplished physician and entrepreneur, Gerry brings a unique and fresh perspective to the team by bridging health care with its specific business cases. His ability to make complex systems and ideas approachable for clients through his storytelling allows him to build meaningful relationships and drive growth for the organization.

Dr. Stanley achieved a P-CEO at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has a Doctor of Medicine and a bachelor’s degree in Classical Civilizations from Creighton University in Nebraska.
