Márcia is Chief Sustainability Officer at RELX Group, a global provider of information-based analytics, decision tools and events with more than 37,500 employees.  Working with colleagues, she aims to ensure RELX’s extra-financial performance furthers competitive advantage and stakeholder confidence. 

RELX ranks in the top 1% of more than 15,000 companies globally by Sustainalytics and has held an MSCI AAA sustainability rating for more than 10 consecutive years.  She was named a top global CSO in 2026 by both Sustainability Magazine and Edie.

She is the author of the forthcoming Navigating the Business of Sustainability: A Guide for Practitioners (with Dr. C. Leitz and Carrie Scott; Elsevier November 2026).  She is a board member of the Foundation for the United Nations Global Compact and a founding board member of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation.

She holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and a PHD in Economic History from the London School of Economics.  She is a Member of the British Empire (MBE), an honour presented to her by the King.
