Diane Cafritz

As Executive Vice President, Chief Innovation and People Officer. Ms. Cafritz is responsible for driving company performance, innovation and sustainable growth.   Passionate about creating an iconic experience for both customers and associates, Ms. Cafritz aims to deliver industry-leading digital innovation and a world-class work environment. 

Ms. Cafritz joined CarMax in February of 2003 as head of litigation.  Over the next 14 years, Ms. Cafritz held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility in the legal department until she was promoted to Senior Vice President and CarMax’s first Chief Human Resources Officer in April of 2017.  In 2021, in addition to her CHRO responsibilities, Ms. Cafritz became the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer and an Executive Vice President in 2022.

Prior to CarMax, Ms. Cafritz was a partner at McDermott Will & Emery.  Ms. Cafritz received her Bachelor of Arts in economics and international relations from Tufts University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Virgina, School of Law.  Ms. Cafritz is also a member of the Board of Directors of Domino’s Pizza Inc.
