Dan Gibbons is Senior Director of Self-Funded Health Plans at the University of California Office of the President, where he directs vendor strategy for UC’s self-funded, ERISA-exempt PPO plans covering more than 100,000 members. He oversees medical, pharmacy, advocacy, HSA, and specialty benefits and is accountable for approximately $1 billion in annual medical and pharmacy spend. Dan leads enterprise payer and other vendor renewals and negotiations, network strategy, and complex plan design initiatives focused on affordability, performance, and member experience. Prior to UC, he held various roles at Anthem Blue Cross, advising large employers and health systems on benefits, customer service, and health plan operations.
