Prior to joining the private sector, Brynt served nearly 25 years as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army rising to the rank of colonel. During his time in uniform, he served in a wide variety of operational positions to include 39 months in Iraq between 2004 and 2009 where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge and three bronze star medals.

After leaving the Army, Brynt served as a principal and then partner for BMNT, a consulting firm in Palo Alto, CA; as a Science & Technology Policy Fellow for the U.S. Department of Energy; as a Co-Founder of Call Sign Coffee, an e-commerce coffee roasting company in San Jose, CA; and as a Co-Founder and Director of Workforce Development, Education, and Training for NextFlex, a National Manufacturing Innovation Institute in San Jose, CA.

Brynt is currently Senior Director of Military Programs, Walmart, where he directs a synchronized enterprise strategy and complementary implementing programs to attract, recruit, and hire; grow and develop; and retain talent from across the military community of interest and leads a collaborative team of military people brand and corporate and consumer reputation brand professionals focused on transitioning service members, veterans, and military families for the leading global retailer. In 2017, he was appointed as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army and also serves as a Board Member for the National Science Foundation project on the Future of Work.
