Andy is the Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel & Secretary of Marriott International. In this role, he leads practice groups comprising ~20 attorneys, paralegals and other legal professionals that are responsible for (i) corporate governance (including the Corporate Secretary function and Board of Directors support) and global entity management; (ii) corporate finance and capital markets transactions and regulatory matters; (iii) SEC reporting and securities regulation, compliance, and disclosure; (iv) investor relations and corporate communications; and (v) legal support for the company's enterprise operations disciplines and the system of managed hotels and residences in the U.S. and Canada. He serves as the primary day-to-day liaison with the board of directors and senior executive team, provides advice, counsel and transactional leadership on corporate-level transactions and investments, serves as the Company’s expert on critical internal corporate policies, and oversees a team of attorneys and paralegals on a broad range of other securities, corporate finance, operations, and sustainability matters. He is also an adjunct instructor for the American University, Washington College of Law’s Hospitality and Tourism Law Program. 

Andy joined the Corporate Legal Affairs team in November 2019 and was elected as Marriott’s Corporate Secretary in May 2020. Prior to his current role, he held roles of increasing responsibility focused on corporate governance, securities law, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions, capital markets transactions, and global entity management. Andy began his Marriott career in September 2013 as corporate counsel in the law department’s dispute resolution group, where he was responsible for directing litigations, arbitrations, mediations and other proceedings involving Marriott and its subsidiaries around the world.

Prior to joining Marriott, Andy was in private practice at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in Washington DC, where he represented clients in civil, regulatory and white-collar criminal investigations and litigations, with a focus on the financial and securities industries. He began his career in the Business and Securities Litigation Group at Dickstein Shapiro LLP in Washington DC. In private practice he tried numerous cases to decision in courts, administrative proceedings, and arbitrations.

Andy earned his bachelor’s degree in international affairs and economics from James Madison University and his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. While in law school, he worked in the general counsel’s office of Choice Hotels International, Inc.
