Professor Burton is the academic director of the Institute for Compensation Studies (ICS) at Cornell where she teaches courses on total rewards management to undergraduate and masters students.  She is on the ILR School leadership team where she serves as Senior Associate Dean for Research, Outreach and External Relations. Prior to joining Cornell, she was a faculty member at the Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management. She earned her Ph.D. in organizational sociology at Stanford University.
