As the Senior Partner of a $13 billion asset management firm, Barbara spent over 30 years in institutional investment management which compliments her board experience at BrightSphere Investment Group.

At Mercator Asset Management LP in addition to managing the firm, she jointly shared responsibility for investment decisions and new business development as well as directing the finance, audit and compliance functions. During her 18 years at Mercator, assets under management grew from $2 billion to a peak of over $13 billion. Barbara has extensive global business experience, having managed portfolios invested in international equities and emerging markets. She traveled extensively over three decades to more than 60 countries in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa, developing in-depth knowledge of politics, economics, markets, and companies.

For the past three years, Barbara has served on the board of BrightSphere Investment Group (NYSE: BSIG), a diversified asset management company with $150 billion under management. In addition to chairing the Compensation Committee, she also serves on the Audit Committee as a Qualified Financial Expert, and the Nominating and Governance Committee which she chaired in 2018.

During her tenure on the BrightSphere board, Barbara has helped lead the company through a multitude of significant corporate events including CEO and CFO transitions, the entry of a large activist shareholder, corporate rebranding, re-domicile from the UK to the US, a major share repurchase program and significant asset sales. In addition, in her role as Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee, she worked to significantly increase diversity on the board through the identification and ultimate selection of two highly qualified candidates that added to the board’s gender, race and generational diversity.

Barbara also serves in leadership roles on two not-for-profit boards involved in secondary and higher-education. She Chairs the Finance Committee for Pine Crest School and is Chair of the Finance Committee for Nova Southeastern University. She earned a BS in Business Administration (Finance) from University of Florida and holds a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance from The London School of Economics. She was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1992
