Executive Director
UN Global Compact Network USA

Amanda Gardiner has over two decades of experience catalyzing change at the intersection of business, society, and the environment. She currently serves as Executive Director at UN Global Compact Network USA, the U.S. office of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, where she oversees the organization’s strategic growth and development, programming, and engagement with U.S. businesses.

Most recently she was Meta’s first Head of ESG, shaping the company’s global responsible business ambition and related governance, engagement, and implementation efforts at a time of intense scrutiny and transformation in the technology sector. She also oversaw publication of Meta’s inaugural Responsible Business Practices report, and drove internal regulatory readiness efforts to meet emerging ESG reporting requirements.

Prior to Meta, Amanda led corporate responsibility at both Verizon and Pearson, advising their boards and C-suites on embedding sustainability and social impact into core business practices. In her seven years at Pearson, she founded the sustainability function and oversaw all aspects of sustainability - from chairing the Responsible Business Council, to conducting human rights due diligence and setting science-based emissions reduction targets. In addition, she created a portfolio of flagship social innovation initiatives for the company, focused on accelerating new business models to reach low-income consumers.

Before joining the private sector, Amanda headed UNDP’s Business Call to Action initiative, collaborating with multinational companies to advance sustainable development goals through business innovation. She began her sustainability career in London at the Prince of Wales' International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF), progressing to key program leadership roles and running the secretariat for the Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights.

Amanda serves on the board of Net Impact and is a Senior Fellow for the Business Fights Poverty Institute. She co-founded Children in Conflict, a global non-profit supporting children impacted by war, and was recognized as a Presidential Leadership Scholar in 2023. She holds an MA from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College. When not working, Amanda enjoys spending time with her teenage sons, playing pickleball, and singing in a rock/soul band.
