  • Nicolas van Zeebroeck is full-time professor of innovation and digital business at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management(Université libre de Bruxelles). He started his career as an e-business consultant at Capgemini before obtaining his PhD in Economics and Management at ULB in 2008. Since then, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at FNRS and a visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research and teachings focus on the economics and strategy of innovation and digitization. He looks more specifically at how digital technologies can be leveraged to transform business processes and business models, with a particular emphasis on their contribution to R&D and innovation. His research has appeared in leading international scholarly journals such as Research Policy and Management Science. Nicolas also advises different companies and institutions in shaping policies and strategies for the digital transformation.

  • Ann Mettler is the Head of the European Political Strategy Centre (EPSC), the in-house think tank of the European Commission, which reports directly to President Juncker. In this capacity, she also serves as Chair of the European Strategy and Policy Analysis System (ESPAS), an inter-institutional project aimed at strengthening the EU's foresight capacity and anticipatory governance.

    Prior to assuming this position in December 2014, she was for eleven years Executive Director of the Lisbon Council, a Brussels-based think tank she co-founded in 2003. From 2000-2003, she worked at the World Economic Forum, where she last served as Director for Europe.

    Ann Mettler holds Masters Degrees in political science and European law and economics, and graduated with distinction from the University of New Mexico, USA, and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn, Germany.

  • John Higgins CBE was appointed Director General of DIGITALEUROPE, the association for the digital technology industry in Europe, in November 2011 following nine years leading its UK member association, Intellect. He is the public face of the digital sector in Europe and speaks regularly on platforms and at conferences throughout Europe and indeed world-wide. John served as a member of the governing body of the University of Warwick for 12 years until 2015 and now chairs its European Advisory Board. John is President of the European Commission's Strategic Policy Forum (SPF) on Digital Entrepreneurship; over a two year period the SPF has worked to identify how Europe's economy and society could best take advantage of the digital revolution.

    Prior, as Digital Customer Experience Sr VP by Schneider Electric (25 B€, manufacturing), Philippe led several worldwide digital programs for growth, in e-commerce, cloud-CRM, web, while developing disrupting management approaches to drastically accelerate value creation and succeed on time. One these programs became a case study at MIT/Sloan.

    Philippe holds an engineering diploma in automation and signal processing (INPG - Grenoble in France), and an MBA.

She has published articles in several peer-reviewed economics journals. Louise started her career as a management consultant with Bain & Company in Boston.

    A noted expert and speaker on the topic of consumer demand, Louise's perspectives have been featured in numerous publications and broadcasts, including Bloomberg, CNNMoney, The Financial Times, NPR, Time Magazine, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.

    Louise earned a PhD in economics and an MSc in econometrics from the London School of Economics, where she began graduate studies as a Marshall Scholar. Louise earned a BSc, summa cum laude, in international economics from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.

    Prior to this role, Brian worked as a Specialist Consultant for The Cambridge Group, a division of Nielsen focusing on consumer-driven demand strategy for Fortune 500 companies. He is a member of various advisory boards including the EU CAF and the Smart London Board.

    Previously he was vice president at Intel Corporation and director of Intel Labs Europe, the company's network of more than 40 research labs, development centers and open innovation collaborations in the European region. He also served as a senior principal engineer at Intel Labs Europe. Curley led Intel's research and innovation engagement with the European Commission and the broader European Union research ecosystem. Previously Curley was global director of IT innovation at Intel. Earlier in his Intel career, he held a number of senior positions for Intel in the United States and Europe. Before joining Intel in 1992, he held management and research positions at General Electric in Ireland and at Philips Electronics in the Netherlands.

    Curley is the author of several books on technology management for value, innovation and entrepreneurship. He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, the British Computer Society and, the Irish Computer Society.

    Curley has a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering and a master's degree in business studies, both from University College Dublin, Ireland. He earned his Ph.D. in information systems from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. He was previously a visiting scholar at MIT Sloan Centre for Information Systems Research

    Before working at McKinsey Solution, David was the CEO of Corporate Banking Lens, a start-up and 50/50 joint venture between McKinsey and SWIFT.

    Prior leading Corporate Banking Lens David had been with Euroclear for about 8 years where his last responsibility was in Strategy. Prior to this last role, he (1) was the head of the Post-Merger Management Office, a unit driving / supporting the integration all the Euroclear group acquisitions; (2) launched a major transformation program to improve operational efficiency in Euroclear Bank (Lean); (3) was the head of the Global-Pricing, Research and Common Services Department in the Product Management Division; and (4) developed the business case of two major IT investments - the Single Settlement Engine (SSE) and Euroclear Settlement of Euronext-zone Securities (ESES) projects. David was also involved in a large transformation programme in IT.

    Prior to joining Euroclear, David Dab had been a consultant with McKinsey & Company for 7 years. At McKinsey, he played a key role in the development of the European Payment Practice. His clients included large international payment institutions, individual banks, shared utilities of domestic banks, as well as specialised technology players. He also served firms active in the securities industry.

    David Dab holds a PhD in Physics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. As a researcher he first worked at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and then at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He published articles in leading journals and worked with several labs across the world (both academic and corporate labs). One of his areas of specialisation was non-linear dynamics and cooperative behaviours.

Eggsplore is an organization that acts as coordinator and catalyst for the FinTech ecosystem, by providing a number of business and logistical services and by providing a face for the community through educational and network events, a yearly FinTech conference and a Brussels based entrepreneurial hub that houses FinTech organizations and companies. Eggsplore connects the dots in Fintech.

    Prior to founding Eggsplore, Wim was the founder and Chief Executive Officer at iMinds(www.iminds.be), a digital technology research center and incubator which started in 2004 and that he grew to a 50 Mio Euro organization by 2015. iMinds specializes in interdisciplinary research and development in the software sector, working with companies and other partners on the newest technologies in domains such as networking, media, security and healthcare. Under his management iMinds built a successful seed fund and incubator, which got him nominated as one of the top 100 most influential accelerator leaders.

    Wim De Waele obtained his master degrees in Economic Sciences and Computer Sciences at the University of Ghent in 1987. He started his career as scientific researcher at the university in the area of artificial intelligence in industrial applications. He continued this work at Siemens R&D in Belgium and München. After that he built the European consulting organization of the Canadian software company Numetrix, specialized in planning software for the consumer packaged goods and process industry. In 1994 Wim joined i2 Technologies as Services Director for Europa, where he also built the European organisation from zero. He then was promoted to vice-president of consumer goods and retail, and moved to i2 headquarters in Dallas. Upon his return to Europe in 2001, he became Chief Technology Officer of the distressed Real Software Group. After the turn-around and sale of the company to a private equity group, he left Real Software for IBBT on august 1, 2004.

    Wim De Waele is also involved in public initiatives such as the new media center De Waalse Krook (www.dekrook.be) and start-up companies such as NewsAnglr and Angel.me (http://www.angel.me). He is a member of the supervisory board of the early stage VOLTA Venture Capital Fund and is active as a business angel.

    She served for two decades as a global corporate executive, including as general counsel, chief risk, ethics, compliance, audit, InfoSec and corporate responsibility officer, at several international companies (Bertelsmann, PSEG, Verint) in energy, technology, media and professional services. She began her career as an international transactional attorney at Cleary Gottlieb, a leading global law firm. She is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Director Member of the National Association for Corporate Directors and was named a 2014 100 Top Thought Leader in Trustworthy Business. She is chairman emeritus of the Ethics & Compliance Initiative and currently serves on several boards including NYC- - based, Epic Theatre Ensemble, Madrid-based Corporate Excellence - Centre for Reputation Leadership and UK-based Ethical Corporation Magazine.

    Dr. Bonime-Blanc is an Adjunct Professor at New York University and a frequent global keynote speaker.
