Defining New Performance HR Targets: Evidence-Based HR

Please be advised that this Group is currently closed to new members.

You are invited to be part of groundbreaking new research being conducted at The Conference Board® in Evidence-Based Human Resources (EBHR). By becoming a member of our Defining New Performance Targets for HR Research Working Group, you will identify the operational and financial key performance indicators (KPIs) that are most relevant to the causal relationship between human capital strategies and business performance.

Evidence-Based Human Resources is the next generation in Human Capital Analytics and is being developed by The Conference Board because we know HR leaders are finding it increasingly difficult to depend on intuitive arguments or traditional metrics for making their business case.

Led by our team of on-staff researchers and guided by the world-renowned members of our Advisory Panel, working group members will identify the KPI measures that matter most in relating human capital strategies to company performance in their specific industry. These results will be combined with those from the first EBHR working group, launched last November.

Made up of executives from 25 leading companies from around the world, this first working group began its work by developing a research plan that will produce conceptual models, case studies, and implementation tools. The group has already attracted the attention from the HR community, garnering citations in HR Magazine and HRMetrics.org.

As a member of the Defining New Performance Targets for HR research working group, you will benefit from both Evidence-Based Human Resources working groups! You will finish the experience by obtaining a complete, integrated research results package that will be produced for all members of both groups.

Issues on the table:

An "evidence-based" approach to Human Capital Analytics is different from most others. Our approach has the following distinct characteristics:

  • Evidence-Based Human Resources turns upside-down the traditional human capital equations of efficiency, effectiveness, and ROI.
  • Instead of seeking justification for the current human resources status quo, we will first look at the financial and organizational performance measures that are most critical to your business.
  • Then we will look at the human capital strategies that empirically drive those outcomes.

EBHR represents a higher standard of proof for human capital impact than what most companies rely on (or research-based consulting firms typically provide):

  • Through the application standards of evidence you will be able to design human capital strategies that are strong predictors of business performance outcomes.

EBHR goes beyond traditional benchmarking or the use of dashboards:

  • Our evidence-based approach ensures that the human capital metrics that your company tracks, reports, and uses to make decisions are not just aligned, but actually drive your business.
