The conduct of a corporate investigation can lead to vast consequences for companies as the news of the day indicates. This webcast will not address any individual company cases. It will provide information that matters to non-security professionals with investigatory responsibilities.
Whether it is determining if the company is in compliance with governmental laws or regulations, seeking information concerning a personnel matter or deciding if a company policy has been violated, investigations need to be conducted. For one reason or another the Corporate Security Department's team of professional investigators is not involved in the inquiry and those other professionals, whose expertise does not lie with this discipline must conduct the analysis.
- Is there a legal obligation to perform certain types of investigations and if so, what are some of those required inquiries?
- Are there any circumstances where it would be in the best interest of the company not to conduct an investigation? If so, what are some of those instances and why?
- Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to involve an in-house professional investigator or a contractor for these investigations?
- What are the legal and illegal aspects of investigations that you need to know?
