Environmental, Social, and Governance Disclosure
24 October, 2012 | (01 hr)
In 2011 nearly 6,000 organizations around the globe invested significant time and effort in monitoring and disclosing their sustainability performance, or ESG – environmental, social and governance – performance, usually in a sustainability report that is separate from a financial statement. The steady increase in volume of sustainability reporting over recent years seems to indicate that many believe issuing a sustainability report is important. However, we also find a strong counter-current from various categories of stakeholders that question the value of the ESG information as a basis for business and investment decisions.
This webcast will explore reasons for what appears to be a disconnect between corporate disclosure and business and investment decisions.
In viewing, participants will learn:
- The importance of the link between ESG information and valuation
- The role of materiality determination in limiting the amount of information disclosed
- The potential of mandated disclosure to improve quality and utility of the ESG information that is disclosed
Audience: CFOs, chief sustainability officers, financial analysts, investors, asset managers, and those charged with investor relations or communications
