Supplemental materials and online availability keep the discussion going long after the series ends. Provocative and proactive, the KnowlEdge Series informs and deepens your company’s internal dialogue on the most pressing issues of the day.
Emerging markets around the world are the drivers of global growth, offering lower cost of operations and rapidly expanding markets that are hard to match in more developed economies. Global companies are focusing on growth operations in Asia, Latin American, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa , with profound implications for the location, composition and management of their overall workforce. With this emphasis on international expansion in emerging markets, HR leaders in global companies are examining their strategies and delivery models, realigning their resources to align with new business structures and identifying new professional HR capabilities their organizations will need to succeed in this rapidly evolving environment.
This two part webcast will examine key factors that concern global HR practitioners:
- To what extent can global HR policies be applied uniformly, given the need to adapt to local culture, legal requirements and unique local market imperatives?
- What HR delivery models and organizational structures are companies adopting in the face of a new strategic focus?
- What are the skills needed by HR teams operating in emerging markets and how quickly can companies acquire and/or develop them?
- How are companies attracting and retaining talent in these highly competitive labor markets?
Audience: Managers within global corporations who are responsible for developing and/or implementing the company’s human capital strategies and HR policies will benefit from this webcast. This includes managers in HR, compensation and benefits, finance, planning and related areas.

The HR Challenge in Emerging Markets
04 November, 2010 | (01 hr)
According to The Conference Board’s Emerging Markets HR Council, participants from a wide cross section of sectors and geographies categorize the particular challenges of identifying and retaining talent in emerging markets as: corporate policy challenges, differences in cultural/geographic dimensions, and how to address supply/demand skill imbalances. Part 2 of this KnowlEdge Series will explore the experience of Adobe India, which is addressing the particular challenges of employee engagement and retention in the hi-tech sector in India.
The war for talent is more pronounced in the Indian hi-technology industry than in other sectors. While blessed with a demographic dividend, acute shortage of talent still challenges technology product companies. Multi-nationals compete neck to neck with local employers to hire the best talent from technical schools. However, the top end of this highly talented and much sought after workforce is driven not only by attractive compensation but other key factors which matter most to GenNext. Organizations will need to do more than win a place on best employer rosters, once perceived as a hallmark of excellence. Adobe India is a premier R&D hub for Adobe Inc. This presentation explores on-going efforts made by Adobe Systems in India to position itself as an employer of choice in its pursuit of developing leading edge software products.
