Hot Spots: Global Business Growth in Emerging Markets and the Energy, Climate and Sustainability Nexus
In terms of future global economic growth, all roads lead to the emerging economies and in particular those of China and India. But as per capita income increases in the emerging economies – fulfilling the promise of economic expansion – so does per capita oil consumption. In the emerging era of sustainability this indivisible link between growth and oil consumption also presents a peril – that while economies and people may be doing better, the climate itself may become worse off because of increased greenhouse gas emissions. Companies with growth strategies dependent on emerging market economies need to understand how these growth, energy and sustainability issues intersect and how best to respond.
This two-part series will include discussions with experts on the increasing impact of global growth on the short and longer term business environment and executives from global companies immersed in the on-the-ground risks and opportunities connected with investment in emerging markets.
Audience: VPs of sustainability, corporate social responsibility and citizenship, legal departments, investor relations, marketing and communications, financial analysts.
