Done in collaboration with The Points of Light Foundation and Target Stores, this in-depth study of the family volunteering process analyzes survey and interview data drawn from more than 400 Target Stores nationwide, as well as other corporate sources. Participants report that including family members in corporate volunteer projects improves the company's image in the community, as well as employee morale. Participation helps to break down barriers among employees, reinforce teamwork, and build commitment. Projects provide "quality" time for family interaction, as well as learning opportunities and positive role models for children. Results show that a family volunteer program requires leadership, personal communication, careful planning, coordination, and monitoring to achieve maximum impact. The report outlines the steps needed to create and manage a program. (40 pages)
