Guidelines for Engagement

Direct engagement between companies and their investors is in early stages, but is likely to become a permanent, although less formal, part of governance of US public companies. In order for such partnerships to be successful, both parties should focus on the quality of the communications and the outcome of those communications, not the quantity, and be mindful of the other party’s resource constraints. Based on the work of The Conference Board Governance Center Advisory Board on Corporate/Investor Engagement, this report offers insights and action plans on how companies and their investors can make the most of these new partnerships.
