Taking an overview of corporate ethics codes in the past 20 years, this report finds that such codes are becoming more detailed and precise. Involvement of a company's boards of directors — perhaps the surest sign of company commitment to a formal ethics process — has jumped from 21 percent in 1987 to 96 percent today.
