Employee Engagement: What Works Now?

Employee engagement is one of the critical levers companies can use to drive performance, even under adverse market conditions. But the function is understaffed, underutilized, and often disconnected from an organization’s business strategy. So concluded The Conference Board Employee Engagement Research Working Group, which examined the state of employee engagement practices to discover how companies, even in challenging environments, are finding success. As one aspect of its research, the RWG conducted a survey of senior human capital professionals with direct control over or insight into engagement practices and culled responses from 209 members of The Conference Board across 21 countries.
