Recent major global disasters have prompted many companies to look beyond cash and in-kind donations for the support of relief efforts and consider longer-term disaster response partnerships with humanitarian organizations. When these alliances are successful, they have the potential to use the core competencies of both sectors to provide better relief. Closer collaboration may also help improve disaster preparedness and, in some cases, even contribute to disaster mitigation. Corporate Responses to Humanitarian Disasters uses information shared during meetings of the Corporate Responses to Humanitarian Disasters Research Working Group — Europe, detailed case studies, and independent investigations conducted by researchers at the European business school INSEAD to create a detailed overview of this new model of corporate-humanitarian cooperation.
