Biography

Utsav Kumar

Utsav Kumar is an Economist in the Economics Program of The Conference Board. He joined the Economics Program as a part of the Domestic and International Research Products at The Conference Board. His research interests lie in the areas of international economics, development economics, economic geography, and applied econometrics. His research covers topics such as India's growth pattern, factors contributing to differential economic outcomes across states in India, relationship between demography and growth. He has published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Monetary Economics and Review of Development Economics.

Utsav is currently working on developing indicators of cost-competitiveness across states and industries for India. In addition, he is working on the role of the demographic dividend in the growth pattern across regions in China and India, and its implications for businesses.

Prior to joining The Conference Board, Utsav was a research analyst with the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. Previously, he was an adjunct lecturer at the University of Maryland (College Park).

Utsav received his M.A. in Economics from Delhi School of Economics (University of Delhi) and Ph.D. in Economics from University of Maryland (College Park).
