Mary Wright
Mary V.L. Wright is Project Director in Human Capital at The Conference Board.
Ms. Wright has thirty years of experience linking the public and private sectors. She now serves as the Project Leader for The Conference Board Workforce Readiness Initiative where she oversees the organization's research and outreach on how business engages in preparing the 21st century workforce. This work entails following up on the report Are they Really Ready to Work — Conference Board's most successful management report including additional research on the cost to business of an unprepared workforce and co-authoring Ready to Innovate which examines how business and school superintendents work to enhance creativity.
As Program Director for the Conference Division, she designs the program and arranges sponsorship for three of its offerings: Women's Leadership, Global Business and Education and Corporate Community Involvement. She is also the Program Director for both the Business and Education and the Community and Public Affairs Councils.
As the project manager for a Gates Foundation grant she is leading a team to determine the case for businesses to invest in post-secondary credentialing programs for low income 16-26 year olds.
Ms. Wright is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Connecticut College with a degree in Urban Affairs and an M.B.A. in public non-profit management from Columbia University.
Before joining The Conference Board, Wright worked for Financial Guaranty Insurance Company, a GE Capital company, as a vice president in the Public Finance Department and later in new product development and manager of government affairs.
