Biography

Ellen S. Hexter

Ellen Hexter

Ms. Hexter leads The Conference Board's work in Enterprise Risk Management, developing research and executive programs on enterprise risk management. She manages seven Councils at The Conference Board, including both the European and U.S. Strategic Risk Councils and the Council of Financial Executives. She has managed The Conference Board's research on ERM and is the author of the recently published report on the state of enterprise risk management, Risky Business and is co-author of ERM in India. She is co-authoring the forthcoming The Conference Board report, Managing Reputation Risk. Ms. Hexter speaks frequently on risk and governance issues. She has worked extensively with The Conference Board's Governance Center since its inception and is the co-author of its recent report, The Role of U.S. Boards of Directors in Enterprise Risk Management and Strategic Oversight. Ms. Hexter is also a faculty member of The Conference Board's Directors' Institute.

Ms. Hexter received an A.B. from the University of Michigan and a M.B.A. from Cleveland State University. After receiving her M.B.A., Ms. Hexter worked as an equity securities analyst for Cowen & Co. and Deutsche Bank in New York. Her career on Wall Street included positions as a corporate credit analyst and a mergers and acquisitions specialist. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and serves as an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers. Ms. Hexter is on the Board of Ethics of New Castle, New York and is a member of the board of the Chappaqua Summer Scholarship Program.
