Ataman Ozyildirim
Ataman Ozyildirim is an Economist and Associate Director of Economic Research in the Economics Program of The Conference Board in New York. Dr. Ozyildirim joined The Conference Board in 1999 as part of the Global Indicators Research Institute. The Conference Board produces Leading Economic Indicators (LEI) for nine countries, the Consumer Confidence Index, the Help Wanted Online data series and other major indicators that have an impact on both business and financial markets. Dr. Ozyildirimâs research interests span applied macroeconomics, forecasting, forecast evaluation, international economics, and development economics. He has specialized in the development of business cycle indicators and in forecasting aggregate economic activity worldwide. He has published articles in academic journals on openness to trade and economic development, analyzing business and growth cycles, estimating trends, making the LEI more timely, and evaluating the forecasting ability of the LEI. In addition to developing new LEIs, his current research is focused on using the LEI to interpret economic signals and the LEI's impact on the stock market. Before coming to The Conference Board, he worked for Management Science Associates, Inc. and served as a lecturer at the Pennsylvania State University. A native of Istanbul, Turkey, he received his B.A. in economics from Ithaca College and his Ph.D. in economics from Pennsylvania State University.
