The Conference Board

Format of Datafiles

The BCI datafiles follow a conventional spreadsheet format. There are separate "columns" for each series and "rows" for each month.

The descriptions for each series (a column) is on the List of Monthly Data Series in the BCI Database page.

Example:
G0M910   Composite index of 11 leading indicators (1992=100)
PCM910   Leading index, change from previous month (pct.)
P6M910   Leading index, change over 6-month span (AR, pct.)
A0M001   Average weekly hours, mfg. (hours)

The CSV (Comma Separated Value text file) files can be read directly into Lotus-123, Excel, and Quattro Pro.

Files are also available in HTML.

A view of how the data will appear:

BCI-01a starts with a "Date G0M910 ..." row and ends with "Dec-97" row
